Hats off to all the participants in the olympics basketball competitions..what a great site to see real basketball...not the self-styled spoiled boyz let me whine alittle games..........of the nba
Iverson is absolutely right. Americans must have understood by now that picking any twelve reasonably good NBA players and training them together for just 2 weeks just can't do the trick anymore. Americans have blamed the rules which is just not true considering that NBA and FIBA rules have converged significantly in the last few years, while previous Dream Teams had no real problems with the rules. The other thing they are saying is that the world is catching up. That is probably true, although I have serious doubts whether Argentina or Lithuania can be compared to some of the teams that the original Dream Team faced and beat easily. For example Croatia had at the time Petrovic, Kukoc, Radja, Vrancovic and a few others and would probably have anihilated the current US team.
They need to start picking their best players and they need to turn them into a real team otherwise they 'll never get a gold medal again. It will be interesting to see what team they are going to field in the 2006 World Championship.
Thanks for the great blog guys,
Dionisis
